    7 students Lipin, Naresh, Pooja, Reema, Udit, Charan and Yasim and a teacher Anjali are sitting around a circular table facing the center, but not necessarily in the same order. The rank of Yasim is an even number but not 4. Pooja sits third to the left of Lipin. Lipin’s immediate neighbours are not the students who have attained ranks 3 or 6. The immediate neighbours of Naresh are Charan and Lipin. There are 4 ranks between rank of Pooja and rank of Lipin. The student who has attained rank 1 is not sitting next to the student who has attained rank 3. Rank of Naresh is rank 5. The rank of 2 of the pairs of students sitting just opposite to each other is either odd or even. Lipin is sitting just opposite to Anjali. Reema is not sitting immediately next to the teacher. The student who has attained the highest marks and hence the first rank is to sit immediately to the left of the teacher. Q. If the students were made to sit rank-wise from 1 to 7 such that the 1st ranker would be sitting immediately to the right of the teacher followed by the 2nd ranker to his right and so on accordingly, then the places of how many students would remain unchanged? Q2. Who is sitting 6th to the right of the teacher? Q3. What are the ranks of Udit & Charan? Q. What is the position of ‘Pooja’ with respect to the person who is sitting immediately right to the person who got rank 5?

    Hello Guys Enjoy With Vocabs………..
    Today(12-01-2017) Hindu Editorial Vocabs……..
    ………………………..Kejriwal in Punjab…………………….

    Springboard=> आगे बढ़ने की प्रेरणा
    Springboard=> something that helps you start an activity or process.
    That Delhi was meant only as a springboard for the Aam Aadmi Party was clear even before Arvind Kejriwal was sworn in as Chief Minister in 2013.
    Envisage=>विचार करना
    Envisage=> to picture (something) in your mind.
    From the start, the AAP envisaged itself as a nationwide movement against corruption and for good governance.
    ……………

    Rival=> प्रतिस्पर्धी
    Rival=> someone or something that tries to defeat or be more successful than another.
    Communalism=> सांप्रदायिकता
    Communalism=>social organization on a communal basis.
    Even as he was talking of Delhi’s problems with water, power and so on, Mr. Kejriwal saw himself as rivalling Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi, fighting corruption and communalism.
    Rout=> घोर पराजय
    Rout=> to defeat completely.
    Dispirit=> मन तोड़ना
    Dispirit=>to deprive of morale or enthusiasm.
    Tenacious=> अटल
    Tenacious=> very determined to do something.
    But those who thought the party’s rout in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls would dispirit its tenacious leader were wrong.
    ……………..

    Proximity=> निकटता
    Proximity=> the quality or state of being proximate.
    Its proximity to Delhi was not the only reason the AAP found a resonance in Punjab.
    Forefront=> सबसे आगे
    Forefront=>the most important part or position.
    The agrarian crisis, the drug mafia, jobs and development issues are in the forefront of the AAP’s campaign.
    ……………….

    Groom=>to make (someone) neat and attractive.
    But the party has been handicapped by its failure to groom a regional leader in Punjab.
    Autocratic=> निरंकुश, स्वेच्छाचारी
    Autocratic=>of, relating to, or being an autocracy : absolute.
    Mr. Kejriwal’s autocratic style of functioning appears to have put off many in his party, as it did Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former BJP MP who at one point seemed inclined to join forces with the AAP.
    ………………..

    Wary=> होशियार
    Wary=>marked by keen caution, cunning, and watchfulness especially in detecting and escaping danger.
    While Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia asked voters at an election rally to vote as if Mr. Kejriwal were the chief ministerial candidate, Mr. Kejriwal himself has been wary of projecting himself thus.
    Jurisdiction=> न्याय अधिकार
    Jurisdiction=>an area within which a particular system of laws is used.
    The AAP would have liked to showcase its two years in government in Delhi as a model, but the frequent run-ins with the Lt. Governor over powers and jurisdiction did not present a pretty picture.
    …………….

    ………………Farewell with a message…………………..
    Stint=> कार्यावधि
    Stint=> a period of time spent at a particular activity.
    Soaring=>उड़नेवाला
    Soaring=>the act or process of soaring; specifically : the act or sport of flying a heavier-than-air craft without power by utilizing ascending air currents.
    Simmer=> धीमी आँच पर पकना
    Simmer=> to be filled with a strong feeling that is difficult to control or hide.
    Racial=> जातीय
    Racial=> of, relating to, or based on a race.
    Regression=> परावर्तन
    Regression=> a trend or shift toward a lower, less severe, or less perfect state.
    Intractable=> हठी, प्रचण्ड
    Intractable=>not easily managed, controlled, or solved.
    Partisanship=> पक्षपात
    Partisanship=>a person who strongly supports something or someone.
    With just days remaining before his stint in office draws to an end, U.S. President Barack Obama addressed the American people one last time in a soaring speech that highlighted his administration’s top achievements and warned his fellow citizens about rising economic inequality, simmering racial divisions and regression into intractable partisanship.
    …………….

    Demit=> पदत्याग करना
    Demit=>to withdraw from office or membership
    Debris=> मलबा
    Debris=> the pieces that are left after something has been destroyed.
    Debacle=> सर्वनाश
    Debacle=>a complete failure : fiasco.
    Although he will demit office with one of the highest approval ratings in recent history, to get to the door he will have to step across the debris of the Democratic Party, which suffered a debacle in the November general election.
    …………….

    Corrosive=> क्षयकर
    Corrosive=>causing someone or something to become weak and damaged.
    Logjam=> रूकावट
    Logjam=>a situation in which no progress seems possible.
    Dysfunction=> दुष्क्रिया
    Dysfunction=> the condition of having poor and unhealthy behaviors and attitudes within a group of people.
    No wonder that the 44th President of the U.S. used his final address to urge Americans to rebuild trust in democratic institutions by reducing the corrosive influence of money in politics and breaking the logjams of congressional dysfunction through grass-roots activism.
    ……………….

    Rebuff=> दो टूक जवाब, रोकना
    Rebuff=>a sharp or rude refusal of something (as an offer).
    And he was rebuffed on agenda points closest to his heart, including common sense gun control reform.
    Legacy=>विरासत
    Legacy=> something that happened in the past or that comes from someone in the past.
    Mr. Obama has built an impressive legacy spanning domestic and foreign policy.
    …………..

    Buckle=> झुकना, मुड़ना
    Buckle=> to bend, crumple, or give way.
    Numerous=> बहुत ज्यादा
    Numerous=>consisting of great numbers of units or individuals.
    Buoy=> तैरते रहना
    Buoy=>a floating object anchored in a body of water to mark a channel or to warn of danger.
    Inheriting an economy buckling under a severe economic recession, he sprang into action early on in his first term and passed numerous pieces of legislation to buoy the sinking assets of American enterprise.
    ………….

    Turbulent=> उग्र
    Turbulent=> causing unrest, violence, or disturbance.
    In foreign policy Mr. Obama was justified in claiming points for the Iran nuclear agreement; on his watch Cuba was finally brought in from the cold, and the death of Osama bin Laden closed the page on a turbulent chapter of terror on U.S. soil.
    Détente=>विश्राम
    Détente=> an ending of unfriendly or hostile relations between countries.
    Imbue=> व्याप्त होना, भर देना
    Imbue=>to cause (someone or something) to be deeply affected by a feeling or to have a certain quality.
    Impunity=> दण्डमुक्ति
    Mr. Obama, however, was less effective in détente with Russia and China, and his relatively soft approach imbued them with the impunity to challenge Washington across multiple arenas.
    …………………

    Strive=> संघर्ष करना
    Strive=>to struggle in opposition : contend.
    Searing=> बहुत तेज़
    Searing=>extremely intense, severe, etc..
    The U.S.’s first African-American president will be remembered as a thoughtful Commander-in-Chief, a leader who strived to provide a progressive template for being, and a man of the 21st century who was as comfortable with social media and popular culture as he was sensitive to searing pain of victims of gun crime or racial hate. He will be missed.
