Ormila Devi claims lift gold
o Konsam Ormila Devi of Manipur lived up to her growing stature by winning gold in the 44kg category at the Khelo India School Games competition at the Indira Gandhi Stadium.
o Ormila Devi, the Commonwealth Youth Championship winner, lifted a combined total of 137 kg – 59kg in snatch and 78 kg in clean and jerk.
o It is 4 kg extra than what she achieved in the Commonwealth meet at Gold Coast.

Manav ends up with silver at WJC Finals
o Indian paddler Manav Thakkar settled for silver after losing in the final of the 2018 ITTF World Junior Circuit Finals at Luxembourg.
o The Indian failed to cash in on the close sixth game win as he ended with the junior boys silver medal on Sunday evening.
o The No. 3 seeded Indian lost to top-seed Kanak Jha of the US by 3-4 (11-9, 3-11, 11-9. 6-11, 3-11, 11-9, 6-11).

Maldives’ Chief Justice arrested
o Maldives police has arrested the country’s Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed along with Supreme Court judge Ali Hameed.
o It came after President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom declared a 15-day state of emergency on Monday.
o The political crisis began after the Maldives government refused to obey a court order to release political prisoners and accused the court of attempting to impeach the President.

Bhumi features in Forbes ’30 under 30? list
o Bollywood actors Bhumi Pednekar, Mithila and Vicky Kaushal have been named as part of Forbes India’s 30 under 30 list.
o Bhumi and Vicky have already carved a niche for themselves in Bollywood, while Mithila, will soon debut in a feature film opposite Irrfan Khan.
o Bumrah, Harmanpreet are also named in Forbes India 30 Under 30 list.

Maldives President declares emergency
o Maldives President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom declared a 15-day state of emergency amid the ongoing political crisis in the country.
o The move would give sweeping powers to security forces to arrest and detain suspects.
o Defying the country’s Supreme Court, the Maldives government had refused to release political prisoners and accused the court of attempting to impeach the President.

Higher fiscal deficit for FY’19: Goldman
o The budgeted fiscal deficit is in line with expectations but there are some risks of slippage in financial year 2018-19.
o Goldman estimates a 20 bps upside risk to the fiscal deficit in 2018-19, unless economic activities formalise at a rapid pace.
o The government outlined a fiscal deficit target of 3.3 per cent of GDP in 2018-19 as against a revised estimate of 3.5 per cent in 2017-18.

Gobardhan Yojana launched to support farmers
o Haryana launched the ‘Gobardhan Yojana’ to provide organic manure and cow urine with an aim to benefit farmers, CM Manohar Lal Khattar said.
o A provision of Rs 11 crore has been made to provide benefits of various projects under this scheme.
o The Yojana would help in doubling the income of farmers and next time, the MSP would be given with additional benefit of 50% over the cost of production.

NGT imposes 10 lakh envt compensation on UP
o The National Green Tribunal imposed an environment compensation of Rs 10 lakh on the UP government for failing to take action on disposing e-waste from the banks of the Ramganga river in Moradabad.
o A bench, headed by Acting NGT Chairperson Justice U D Salvi imposed the compensation.
o The green panel also imposed an environment compensation on the Moradabad district magistrate.
